Add connections and credentials

The importer never carries credentials across: generated connections have empty user names and passwords.

PowerCenter mappings

The pipelines refer to their database connections by name: INFA_SOURCE_DB for sources and INFA_TARGET_DB for targets. Open a pipeline's Table input and Table output to see which names it uses, then create a Hop relational connection with each name (Metadata → Relational Database Connection), pointing at the database PowerCenter used.

IICS tasks

Connections are created in the output's metadata/ folder from the task's connection files in SYS, with the details those files hold and without credentials. Add the credentials.

Credentials through variables

Don't type passwords into a connection: the connection file would hold them, and Hop's Encrypted prefix in that file is obfuscation, not encryption. Never commit a connection file with a password in it.

  1. Set Username and Password to variables, for example ${SALES_DB_USER} and ${SALES_DB_PASSWORD}.
  2. Give the variables their values per Hop environment, or from the environment of the process that runs Hop.
  3. Use Test in the connection dialog, with that environment selected.

Put the JDBC driver jar for the database in <hop>/lib/jdbc on every machine that runs the pipelines.
